Unite to Fight Poverty

Today, nearly 40 million people in the United States are living in poverty. That’s why Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders is uniting with Charles Koch and Stand Together to fight poverty.

“We share the same vision. We share the same goal. All we have to do is stand together.”

Stand Together and Deion Conduct Black Friday Experiment

On Black Friday, Stand Together and Deion asked busy shoppers to contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty by donating their holiday shopping savings to help the most effective, community-based organizations tackling poverty dramatically increase their reach and impact.

In less than one week, shoppers at the mall and people online contributed $260,000 in small-dollar donations to groups Stand Together supports.

To build on that unprecedented success, Stand Together is launching the Giving Together Initiative. We’re asking individuals across the entire country to use their time, talent, and resources to break the cycle of poverty in America. As part of this initiative, all donations of up to $1,000 will be matched, up to a total of $10 million in individual donations throughout 2019. The group is challenging people across the country to use their unique gifts and talents to get involved and make a difference in their communities.

Stand Together has vetted more than 2,000 nonprofits and is partnering with 115 of the most-effective organizations that are helping nearly 2 million individuals overcome persistent poverty. This initiative is about uniting tens of thousands of people of all different backgrounds with the country’s most effective community-based nonprofits to solve one of the nation’s toughest problems. Stand Together is challenging people all around the country to become social entrepreneurs in their own communities and to make a difference.
