Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) the state’s leading grassroots organization against corporate welfare handouts to professional sports teams has launched a digital ad in Tampa Bay aimed at educating citizens about corporate welfare for sports stadiums. The 30-second ad shows other recent examples, including the billion-dollar boondoggle in Miami-Dade, that have cost taxpayers in Florida and across the country billions of dollars.
“Taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook to pad the pockets of professional sports team,” said Andres Malave. “We’re being attacked by politicians who feel caught off guard. But our local activists and volunteers are up for the challenge and can win this fight because when you put information in people’s hands, they agree with us – that it’s not the role of government to use money that doesn’t belong to them. It’s corporate welfare!”
